Chiefs Volleyball Camp is designed to teach the skills, techniques, and knowledge of volleyball under the gulidance of an experienced coaching staff. Camp is led by former Cherokee girls head coach Erika McGinley and current Cherokee boys head coach Mike Albanese.
Age and skill levels will be separated into appropriate groups. Drills will be designed to improve passing, serving, setting, and hitting while encouraging 5 core values: honesty, effort, attitude, respect, and teamwork (H.E.A.R.T.). Our goal is to provide a positive and fun learning environment for players to improve their volleyball skills. We use volleyball to help kids build character, promote good sportsmanship, and develop leadership skills while having fun playing the game of volleyball.
Tryout Tune-Up: Pre-Tryout Training Camp
Prepare for success with our two-day intensive training camp designed to help athletes excel at upcoming tryouts, whether for club or high school teams. This camp will focus on enhancing key volleyball skills and refining gameplay strategies to ensure participants are fully prepared.
Each session will include comprehensive drills in serving, setting, hitting, defense, and blocking. Emphasis will be placed on game situations, allowing players to build confidence and maximize their presence on the court. Additionally, coaches will address important factors beyond technical skills—such as attitude, effort, and teamwork—that contribute to success at tryouts and beyond.
Led by Coach McGinley and Coach Albanese, who bring years of experience coaching both high school and club teams, this camp offers invaluable insights into what makes a successful tryout experience. Over the course of the two days, athletes will not only sharpen their volleyball skills but also gain the confidence needed to stand out during tryouts and give themselves the best opportunity for success.
